What’s the cost?

How much should you expect to invest in a kitchen for your home? Let’s break it down.

So how much does a custom kitchen cost?

ChatGPT Image Jul 8, 2026, 11_02_18 AM_e

At Floor It, we believe pricing should be discussed with clarity, not avoided. A kitchen is a major investment, and you deserve to understand what affects the cost before booking a consultation.

The truth is, there is no one-size-fits-all price. Every kitchen is shaped by the size of the space, the layout, the materials, the countertop, the storage details, the lighting, and the level of customisation involved.

However, we’re going to walk you through how kitchen pricing works, what can increase the investment, what can help lower the cost, and what hidden details you should consider before making a decision.

That way, you can begin your kitchen project with a clearer idea of what to expect and what choices may best suit your home, lifestyle, and budget.

Custom kitchen pricing in Guyana: what should you expect to invest?

At Floor It, we’ve worked on more than 500 projects over the last 12 years and have recognised one thing clearly: no two kitchens are exactly the same. Every kitchen is shaped by the size of the space, the client’s lifestyle, the materials and finishes selected, and the level of functionality and detail included. As a general guide, most custom kitchen clients invest between GYD $4.5M and $10.5M+, with some projects going beyond that depending on the design.

Some kitchens are designed to be simple, practical, and beautiful for everyday use. Others include premium finishes, islands, waterfall countertops, full-height quartz backsplashes, advanced storage systems, lighting, and custom functional details that create a more refined experience.

There is no single set price for a custom kitchen because every home, layout, and client need is different. However, this page will help you understand what affects the price, where your budget may fall, and how to make smart decisions before requesting a quote.

Several choices can increase the final investment in your kitchen.

Kitchen size

A larger kitchen usually requires more cabinetry, countertop material, hardware and accessories. The bigger the space, the more materials and time are needed.

Adding a kitchen island

An island can add cabinetry, countertop material, seating space, storage, hardware, and sometimes electrical or plumbing work. It can also become the centrepiece of the kitchen.

Waterfall countertop on the island

A waterfall countertop uses additional material because the countertop continues down the sides of the island. It also requires more precise fabrication and installation, which increases cost.

Premium cabinetry materials

Premium cabinetry materials can increase the cost of your kitchen because they create a more elevated look and feel. These options often offer richer textures, deeper colour tones, and a more refined visual presence. For many clients, premium cabinetry is less about necessity and more about creating a kitchen that feels distinctive, luxurious, and aligned with the overall standard of the home.

Full-height quartz backsplash

Continuing quartz from the countertop up the wall creates a clean, elegant, seamless look. It costs more because it uses more quartz and requires precise measurement and expert installation.

Cabinet and built-in lighting

Cabinet and built-in lighting improve both the appearance and usability of your kitchen by brightening work areas, highlighting design details, and making the space easier to use. These lighting features can increase the cost of the kitchen, but they also improve the living experience and make the kitchen more efficient.

Advanced movement systems

Advanced movement systems, such as hydraulic systems, servo-drive mechanisms, soft-close fittings, and specialised hardware, improve how the kitchen opens, closes, and feels during daily use. These features improve the living experience and make the kitchen more efficient, but at the same time, they also increase the cost of the kitchen.

Full-height wall cabinets

Full-height wall cabinets can increase the cost of a kitchen because they use more cabinetry material, taller doors, additional hardware, and often require more precise installation. Instead of leaving open space above the upper cabinets, the cabinetry continues higher up the wall or all the way to the ceiling, creating a more built-in and finished look.

This option can also provide more vertical storage, especially for items that are not used every day. While full-height wall cabinets can increase the overall cost of the kitchen, they help create a cleaner, more seamless appearance and improve the living experience by making better use of available space.

A custom kitchen does not always have to be at the highest end of the range. Several decisions can keep the project more budget-conscious, including choosing modular units.

Smaller kitchen size

Less cabinetry, countertop material, hardware, and installation work usually means a lower investment.

Simpler layout

Straight layouts or simpler designs are usually more cost-effective than layouts with many corners, custom sections, or complicated design details.

Countertop layout and selection

Choosing a standard countertop, avoiding waterfall edges, and selecting a more affordable surface can reduce cost.

No island

Leaving out an island reduces the amount of cabinetry, countertop material, hardware, and installation work required.

Standard backsplash

A standard backsplash is usually more cost-effective than a full-height quartz backsplash.

Fewer premium accessories

Reducing pull-outs, rotating trays, hydraulic systems, servo-drive mechanisms, and advanced storage accessories can help control the budget.

Limited built-in lighting

Choosing fewer lighting features can lower the final investment.

Modular kitchen option

A modular kitchen can help lower the cost because it uses pre-designed cabinet units, standard sizes, and a simpler installation process. It can be a more affordable option for clients who still want a functional, well-designed kitchen but are comfortable with fewer custom layout and storage details.

Some kitchen companies cost more because they include more than cabinets.

A higher-value kitchen may reflect:

Factor & Why it affects price

Better materials

More durable cabinetry, premium finishes, and stronger hardware usually cost more.

More design support

Custom planning, layout guidance, and detailed recommendations require more time and expertise. Some companies also provide Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) guidance, with key electrical and plumbing details included in the production drawings, giving clients added peace of mind before installation.

More functionality

Pull-outs, soft-close systems, lighting, pantry systems, and custom storage improve daily use.

More precise installation

Skilled installation affects how the kitchen looks, functions, and lasts.

Warranty and after-sales support

Long-term support adds value beyond the day of installation.

More customization

A kitchen designed around your space and lifestyle takes more planning and production than a standard kitchen.

A lower price is not always bad. For some clients, a simpler or more standard kitchen may be the right fit. But buyers should understand what may be different.

Some companies may cost less because:

  • They use more basic cabinetry materials, finishes, or hardware.

  • They offer more standardised sizes with fewer custom design options.

  • They may keep added features to a minimum, with little to no storage accessories, lighting features, soft-close systems, or advanced mechanisms included.

  • They may only supply the kitchen, rather than supporting the full process from design through installation, including countertop installation.

  • They may not offer any warranty and have poor after-sales support.

  • They may sell only the kitchen product, rather than offering a complete project experience with design guidance, electrical and plumbing planning, production drawings, installation coordination, countertop installation, and support throughout the process.

Most Floor It custom kitchen clients invest between:

Modular kitchen

Approx. GYD $2.2M–$5M

Best for clients who want a faster, more structured, budget-friendly kitchen solution with a simpler layout, practical material selections, a standard backsplash, useful storage, and fewer premium accessories.

Modular kitchens work well for apartments, Airbnb rentals, rental properties, small- to medium-sized family homes, and developers who need a stylish, functional kitchen solution that can be delivered and installed quickly.

However, if you want a kitchen built around very specific design features, colours, mechanisms, accessories, and layout requirements, a custom kitchen may be the better option.

Custom kitchen

Approx. GYD $4M–$8M

Best for clients who want more design detail, better storage, upgraded finishes, improved functionality, and selected premium features such as an island, upgraded countertop, or cabinet lighting.

Super Custom kitchen

Approx. GYD $9M+

Best for clients who want a kitchen designed entirely around their lifestyle, taste, space, appliances, storage needs, and the way they naturally move through the kitchen every day.

This level includes more premium cabinetry, waterfall island effects, full-height quartz backsplash, advanced storage systems, integrated lighting, and custom functional details. Every element is carefully considered to create a more refined, personal, and opulent kitchen experience.

Important note:

These ranges are meant to help you plan. Your final quote depends on your layout, measurements, materials, selected features, and installation requirements.

A kitchen is used every day, so the cheapest option upfront may not always provide the best long-term value.

A higher-quality kitchen can offer better durability, smoother drawer and cabinet movement, more efficient storage, easier cleaning, better organisation, and a more enjoyable daily experience.

When comparing kitchens, don’t only ask, “What is the price?” Ask, “How will this kitchen perform after years of daily use?” Cabinet movement, material durability, countertop performance, storage convenience, electrical and plumbing planning, and installation quality all affect the long-term value of your investment.

  • Will I receive 3D visuals before confirming my order, so I can clearly see how my kitchen is expected to look once installed?

This helps you approve the design with confidence before production begins, reducing guesswork, misunderstandings, and surprises after installation.

  •  Will I receive production drawings before confirming my order to ensure the kitchen can be built and installed accurately?

Production drawings help confirm the technical details of the kitchen, reducing errors, miscommunication, and surprises during production or installation.

  • Can I see, touch and feel the cabinet materials, finishes and hardware before I make a decision?

Photos and 3D visuals are helpful, but seeing the materials in person helps you better judge the quality, colour, texture, finish, and overall feel of the kitchen before you commit.

  • Will I receive a professional consultation where my needs are discussed, design options are explained, and I’m guided toward the right kitchen solution before making a decision?

A good consultation helps ensure your kitchen is planned around your lifestyle, space, storage needs, and budget, not just appearance. It also gives you a clear 3D visual of the design, so you can better understand how your kitchen is expected to look even before it is built.

  • What exactly is included in the quoted price?

Kitchen quotes can look very different from one supplier to another. Some may include only the cabinets, while others may include design support, installation guidance, countertops, hardware, accessories, lighting, warranty, and after-sales support. Knowing what is included helps you compare fairly.
